Prof. Ayman Abdo

Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist

Prof Abdo is an experienced consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Senior Vice President of Fakeeh Care Group. He joined the Board of Directors in 2022. He is Professor of Medicine at the College of Medicine at King Saud University and Director of the Liver Disease Research Centre at King Saud University. He is also a consultant in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at King Khalid University Hospital. Prof Abdo has extensive experience in education and training. As such, he was appointed Vice Dean of the College of Medicine for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Umm Al-Qura University (2013-2016) and Head of Academic Affairs at the College of Medicine at King Saud University and its Vice Dean for Quality and Development (2008-2012). He has also been appointed as the former Secretary General of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) from 2016 to 2022. Professor Abdo has served on many national committees, including the National Education and Training Evaluation Commission, the Saudi Patient Safety Center, the Saudi Public Health Authority and the Saudi Medical Council. He was a founding member of two prestigious societies, the Pan-Arab Liver Transplant Society and the Saudi Society for Study of the Liver and Transplantation (SASLT). He was previously Treasurer and Board Member of the Saudi Association of Gastroenterology and Editor-in-Chief of the Saudi Journal of Gastroenterology.
