Prof. Hisham Othman Akbar

Consultant Gastroenterologist & Internal Medicine

Prof Akbar received his medical degree from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) and fellowships in gastroenterology and hepatology at McGill Montreal, the University of Western Ontario and the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He is a certified fellow in internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and by the American Board on IM and Gastroenterology. He is a former Chairman of the GI Department, Head of the Endoscopy Unit and Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship Programme at King Abdulaziz University Hospital. He is currently Professor of Medicine and Consultant Internist and Gastroenterologist at King Abdulaziz University Hospital.
